The Stop List

A look at how your business actually runs, and what you can put down.

You show me how your business is set up. I take my time and go through it properly, then send you back a map of what you are really running and a list of what you can stop.

Why this exists

It is almost never chaos. It is layers.

You added something to solve a problem. Then you added something else. Nothing ever came back off.

So now there are tools doing the same job as each other, a workflow you built for a version of the business you no longer run, and two or three things you keep paying for because cancelling them feels like admitting something.

I have spent twenty years inside other people's businesses, mostly on the tech side, and I run around forty five WordPress sites. I can see the machine. That is the part most people selling to women in their second act cannot do.

Step one

What you send me

A questionnaire about how your business is set up. What you sell and how people buy it, what a normal week looks like, every tool you pay for, what you think each one does, where you get stuck, and what you are afraid to stop.

Best guesses are fine. In fact they are better, because what you think is running is useful information on its own.

Then a screen recording, up to ten minutes, walking me through your setup. Phone or laptop, unedited, thinking out loud. Please do not tidy up first.

If you have never recorded your screen before, I will walk you through it. Here is how to do it, three ways, easiest first.

I never take your logins. Not for convenience, not just this once. A recording shows me everything I need without either of us carrying that risk. If something cannot be seen in a recording, send a screenshot.
Step two

What you get back

Four things, in this order.

1. What you are running

The map. Every tool, what it is doing, what it costs, and how it actually connects, as opposed to how you thought it did. This is usually the first surprise.

2. The stop list

What to put down, each with one line on why, ranked so there is an obvious first move.

3. What stays, and why

Naming what is working matters as much as naming what is not. This is the part where you find out you were on the right track, with evidence behind it rather than encouragement.

4. What I would do next, in order

Three to five recommendations, sequenced. A direction, not a project plan.

It comes as a written report on a page of your own, plus a recorded walkthrough from me talking you through it. Written, because a conversation evaporates and this is the thing you still have in six months.

Worth being clear about

I tell you what to do and why. The doing stays yours.

This is guidance and recommendations. It is not a setup service, and I will not build it for you.

That is deliberate rather than unhelpful. You end up understanding your own business instead of depending on me, which is the entire point of an offer called The Stop List.

How the timing works

Buy now, fill it in while I am away

I am traveling from September 26 to October 12, and that is what makes this round work rather than what gets in the way.

You buy, and the questionnaire arrives straight away. You fill it in whenever suits you over the next two weeks, with no one waiting on you.

As long as your questionnaire and recording are back to me by October 10, your Stop List lands by October 20.

The clock starts when your completed questionnaire arrives, never when you pay.

There is one limit on that. If your questionnaire and recording are not with me within 21 days of buying, I can no longer hold a delivery date for you. I will still do your Stop List and I will fit it in the next time I have room, which may be a month or more later. Purchases are not refundable, so please buy this when you have an hour spare in the next three weeks rather than buying it for later.

About Renee
Renee Shupe

Hi, I'm Renee.

For twenty years I have been the person women call when the tech and the back end of the business get away from them. I would calm it down, sort it out, and explain it in a way that finally made sense. I still run around forty five WordPress sites for other people, so I am not describing this work from memory. I am in it every week.

That is the part most people cannot offer you. Plenty of them will talk with you about your business. Far fewer can open it up and see how it is actually wired, what you are paying for twice, and which piece is quietly costing you a morning a week.

I am also building this the same way you are. Solo, in my second act, in Northern Alberta, with a finite amount of energy and no appetite for spending it on things that do not need doing. That is why the stop list comes before the recommendations, rather than after them.

This is the first thing I have made that uses both halves of what I do.

What it costs

$197 for the first three people

After that it is $297.

I am doing three of these to start with, because three is what I can do properly in a month alongside everything else. That is a limit on my time rather than a sales tactic, and if a fourth person turns up I will tell them honestly when I can fit them in.

If you go on to join Your Quiet Edge within thirty days, your full $197 comes off the price. Which makes this the cheapest honest way to find out how I think before committing to anything bigger.

After it lands

Fourteen days to ask me anything about it

Once your Stop List arrives you have fourteen days to come back to me by email with questions about it. One at a time works best. Weekdays only, because I do not answer email at weekends.

Questions about the recommendations, rather than new problems. A new problem is either a new Stop List or it is a bigger conversation, and I will say so if that is what it turns out to be.

Questions

Before you decide

My setup is a mess. Is that a problem?

It is the reason to do this. A tidy setup does not need a stop list, and I promise you I have seen worse. If you are worried yours is too messy to show anyone, that is usually a sign you should.

What if I am not very technical?

Good. That is who this is for. You do not need to know how anything works to record yourself using it, and explaining a tool badly tells me more than explaining it well would.

Do I need to have my business figured out first?

No. This looks at what you are running right now, whatever state it is in.

What if I only use three tools?

Then we will find out whether those three are the right three, and you will get a shorter report. The number of tools was never the point.

Will you set any of it up for me?

No. I tell you what to do and why, and the doing stays yours. See above, where I said the same thing in more words.

Can I just give you access to my accounts?

Please do not. I never take logins. A screen recording gives me the same picture without either of us carrying that risk.

What if I take ages to fill in the questionnaire?

Your date moves. The clock starts when your completed questionnaire arrives, so if it is back by October 10 you are in the October 20 batch. After that we pick a new date together. The outside limit is 21 days from buying, and past that I can no longer hold a date for you. I will still do it, but it goes in the next gap I have, which may be a month or more later, and purchases are not refundable.

Is there a call?

There is no call. All of it happens in writing and on video, on your schedule and mine, which is better for both of us.

What if I have more questions after the fourteen days?

The window closes, and that is by design rather than meanness. It is what keeps this a contained piece of work at this price instead of an open-ended arrangement.
